Obstetric ultrasound imaging training within main department and across the City in other hub and spoke sites.
Train to become competent and qualified in a full range of examinations from very early pregnancy to post natal and gynaecology, including transvaginal and Doppler studies. (Directorate activity approx 110,000 scans per annum across Greater Glasgow and ).
Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:
This is a permanent role with hours flexible from 22.2 to 37
The shift pattern will be Monday-Sunday – Day shift
These posts will be based within Princess Royal Maternity or Queen Elizabeth University Hospital
The post holder will be required to undertake and successfully complete a Postgraduate Certificate in Obstetric and Gynaecology Ultrasound at a CASE‑accredited university. They will learn to evaluate requests for ultrasound examinations, ensuring sufficient clinical information is available to support the correct selection of imaging techniques. The role includes developing the ability to undertake and independently report the full range of obstetric and gynaecological ultrasound examinations, providing direct care and supporting clinical decision‑making by communicating findings and seeking advice when necessary.
The post holder will be expected to learn, and become competent and qualified, in the accurate plotting of fetal growth graphs, and in identifying problem pregnancies and abnormalities, referring to senior sonographers when required. They will actively pursue and maintain a personal record of Continuing Professional Development, participate in audit and quality assurance activity, and develop competence in the accurate entry of patient information into computerised hospital information systems.
