Position Opening Temporary Children’s Library Assistant

Responsibilities:

• Assist patrons at the circulation desk, processing materials, issuing cards, and verifying circulation information.
• Assists patrons in locating materials, copying, computer work, etc., answers simple reference questions, and refers customers to reference librarians.
• Answers telephone, provides information, and assists customers by phone.
• Collects fines for lost and damaged materials and reconciles records.
• Ensures materials on shelves are in the proper order promptly.
• Ensures there are proper supplies for the operation of the children’s library.
• Communicates with other staff members and functions as a team player.
• Maintains positive communication and rapport with staff, customers, and external organizations.
• Performs opening and closing duties.
• Performs other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Hours : 18 - 26 hours/week

Shift flexibility required:

• Monday, 9:00 am - 12:00 pm
• Tuesday through Thursday, 9:00 am - 2:00 pm Every 3rd Saturday, 9:30 am - 5:00 pm
• Position expires 12/31/2026.

Hourly Wage : $16.37/hour

Benefits:

• PTO: Prorated to hours worked
• Sick Leave: Prorated to hours worked

Desired Minimum Training and Experience

• A High School diploma or equivalent is required.

• Excellent customer service skills and experience working with various software applications are also required.
