The Reno-Sparks Indian Colony (RSIC) is a federally recognized tribal government dedicated to the economic and social advancement of its people. Established in the early 1900s and formally recognized under the Indian Reorganization Act of 1934, the RSIC represents over 1,100 members of the Paiute, Shoshone, and Washoe Tribes—Three Tribes, One Nation. Our lands include the original 28-acre Colony in central west Reno and a 1,920-acre community in Hungry Valley, located 19 miles north of the Colony in the scenic Eagle Canyon region of Nevada. As a Healthcare Credentialing & Provider Relations Specialist under direct supervision, you will play a critical role in managing the credentialing, re-credentialing, and privileging of healthcare providers at the Reno-Sparks Tribal Health Center (RSTHC). Your responsibilities include ensuring compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards while maintaining precise provider records. You'll collaborate with NextGen RCM Credentialing to facilitate preferred provider contracts and review provider contracts to ensure they meet organizational expectations and scope of practice. Additionally, you will function as the liaison between the Referral Department, Business Office, and external specialty care providers, coordinating Tribal Medicaid Federally Qualified Health Center (TMFQHC) written care coordination agreements. This role includes processing credentialing applications, verifying provider qualifications, and building strong relationships with specialty care providers to deliver exceptional customer service.

To thrive as a Healthcare Credentialing & Provider Relations Specialist at the Reno-Sparks Tribal Health Center, a combination of education and experience is essential. A High School Diploma or GED is required, while an Associate’s degree is preferred. A minimum of three years of relevant credentialing experience will provide the foundational knowledge needed for the role. Successful candidates will possess strong attention to detail and organizational skills, as well as the ability to compile and maintain accurate provider data.
Familiarity with current health plans and agency requirements for credentialing is crucial. Effective oral and written communication skills are necessary for gathering and exchanging information with various stakeholders. Proficiency in credentialing databases, such as CAQH and Health Stream, along with excellent analytical and critical thinking abilities, will empower you to manage multiple priorities and deadlines successfully. Building professional relationships and representing the organization with confidence are also vital aspects of this role.
