Job Description

Desert Marigold School is seeking an experienced Waldorf Games/Movement Teacher. The ideal candidate plans and implements physical education that integrates body awareness, spatial perception, and, often, Spacial Dynamics®. They guide students through developmental movement stages, including circus arts, traditional games, Pentathlon training, Medieval Games training, cooperative sports, and athletic skill development designed for grades 1–12. 

Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States (US Citizen or valid work visa), possess or be able to obtain an Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card, and meet requirements for Arizona State Teacher Certification.   Please note: We do not offer visa sponsorship.

EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Full-Time

TERM: 2026/2027 School Year

LOCATION: Desert Marigold School, Phoenix AZ

SCHEDULE: T-F (7:45am-3:00pm)

COMPENSATION: $40,000 and up (depending on experience)

Position Overview: Games and Movement Teacher

The ideal candidate will have a background in physical education, fitness, or health and wellness training. Training in Spacial Dynamics® and a passion for Waldorf education are advantageous.

Lessons are designed to complement the classroom curriculum based on age and ability and support the healthy development of the whole child. A love of outdoor teaching—in all weather conditions (except extreme heat classrooms will be used for class sessions). Taking a creative and flexible approach in order to engage both the young and teenage learners is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and implement a Games and Movement curriculum for grades 1–12 aligned with Waldorf educational principles

• Lead outdoor and indoor movement classes that encourage playfulness, coordination, rhythm, and cooperation

• Establish healthy daily and weekly rhythms that support students’ physical and emotional well-being

• Collaborate with class teachers and colleagues to support the integration of movement and play across the curriculum

• Participate in faculty, realm meetings and school events as appropriate for full-time faculty

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree required; background in Movement Education, Physical Education, or a related field preferred

• Experience teaching elementary and teenage children, ideally in a Waldorf or experiential learning setting

• Exemplary classroom management, discipline, and interpersonal communication skills

• Waldorf teacher training or Spatial Dynamics training, and understanding of child development preferred

• Enthusiasm for outdoor education and a love of play and movement with children.
