The Parker Police Department is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Crime Scene Investigator (CSI) to join our team. By working together, we strive to develop innovative solutions that strengthen our community and enhance public safety.The mission of the Parker Police Department’s Forensic Services Section is to provide professional, thorough, and scientifically sound processing of crime scenes. This includes the identification, documentation, collection, and preservation of physical evidence to support investigative and prosecutorial efforts. Our Crime Scene Unit team works closely with patrol officers, detectives, and regional partners to ensure evidence integrity and investigative excellence.As a Crime Scene Investigator, you will respond to a variety of scenes—including property crimes, major incidents, and complex investigations—using advanced forensic techniques and technology. You must have at least twelve (12) months of related experience and your current International Association of Identification (IAI) Level I, II, or III certification to be considered. Under general supervision, this position responds to crime scenes to document, collect, preserve, and process physical evidence in support of criminal investigations. The position prepares forensic documentation and reports, maintains evidence integrity and chain of custody, and provides court testimony and technical forensic support. *This position performs duties deemed to be safety sensitive. Employees holding this position participate in pre-employment and random drug testing under Town’s policies*.The expected hiring range for this position is dependent upon the level the applicant is hired in at based on experience and certification. Hiring range is: $33.53/hr - $58.82/hr. Full salary range for Crime Scene Investigator I: $33.53/hr - $48.62/hrFull salary range for Crime Scene Investigator II: $36.88/hr - $53.48/hrFull salary range for Crime Scene Investigator III: $40.57/hr - $58.82/hrWork hours are typically four (4) ten-hour shifts 6am-4pm. Nights, weekends and holidays may be required. This position requires on-call rotation work.You must be able to pass an extensive background check including but not limited to: criminal history search, job suitability exam, credit check and polygraph examination.NOTE: A list of disqualifiers for this position MUST be read prior to applying for this position and can be viewed at sure to select the 'Civilian Driving Position Applicant Disqualifiers' option for the correct list. This job description does not constitute an employment agreement and the Town may change these duties at any time.Responds to crime scenes and other incidents to identify, document, collect, preserve, package, transport, and store physical evidence in accordance with established protocols.Processes crime scenes using appropriate techniques, including photography, measurement, sketching, and written documentation.Maintains evidence integrity by properly labeling, packaging, securing, and documenting chain of custody.Conducts laboratory and field examinations of evidence consistent with training, certification level, and assigned responsibilities.Prepares accurate and complete reports related to crime scene processing, evidence handling, and laboratory casework.Attends autopsies and other forensic examinations to document observations and collect evidence as assigned.Testifies in court regarding crime scene processing, evidence handling, and forensic findings.Maintains, inventories, and stocks equipment, supplies, and materials related to crime scene and laboratory operations.Ensures facilities, vehicles, and equipment are maintained in a safe, sanitary, and operational condition.Assists with training activities, technical guidance, or informational support for department personnel or community programs as appropriate to assignment level.Performs other related duties as assigned.

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Employment StandardsThe requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.Knowledge of property and evidence handling, storage, and security. Knowledge of latent processing, evidence collection, crime scene photography, and other basic crime scene duties.Knowledge of the scientific method and the ability to apply these principles to a forensic laboratory.Knowledge of photographic equipment and other crime scene processes.Knowledge of up-to-date office practices and procedures.Knowledge of computers and electronic data processing.Skill in identifying crime scene evidence.Ability to think critically.Ability to testify in a court of law. Ability to deal effectively with members of the public, coworkers, officials, and others through written and verbal communication.Ability to work effectively and exercise discretion in stressful or emergency situations.Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.Ability to learn the Town's geography and street system and use that knowledge in daily work activities and tasks. Ability to maintain IAI certification as outlined in the specific CSI I, II, and III requirements.Ability to be on-call (one week at a time) twenty-four (24) hours a day to respond and assist with crime scene investigations for the Parker Police Department, Lone Tree Police Department, and the local Judicial District’s Critical Incident Response Team. The employee must be able to talk and hear effectively, both in person and over the phone, and must be capable of operating a vehicle if required by the role. Vision requirements include consistent near and far visual acuity, depth perception, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus to allow a broad field of vision.Moderate Physical DemandsThis position involves frequent physical activity and movement. The employee must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull up to twenty-five (25) pounds frequently and up to fifty (50) pounds occasionally. EnvironmentPhysical presence onsite is required. Work schedules include evenings, weekends, holidays, extended shifts, and emergency callouts. Work is primarily performed in varied indoor and outdoor locations, including emergency response and public safety environments. The noise level varies depending on activities or location. This position frequently requires exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
