Job Description

Job Description:

Cellar Worker

Who We Are
At Frog’s Leap, our mission is to make wines of terroir, responsibly farmed, sustainably produced, and joyfully shared. Family-owned and operated since 1981, we are guided by a belief that great wine begins in the vineyard and is sustained by people who care deeply about their work, one another, and the land.

We are committed to regenerative organic farming principles, thoughtful stewardship, and creating a workplace where good business, good farming, and shared values go hand in hand. We value team members who bring care, curiosity, and a sense of responsibility to the work, along with diverse perspectives and a willingness to pitch in wherever needed.

Who You Are
You love the idea of being at the heart of the winemaking process—hands-on, detail-focused, and part of a close-knit crew. You bring a strong work ethic, a sharp eye for detail, and a steady commitment to safety, cleanliness, and quality.

You communicate clearly, stay organized in a fast-moving environment, and know when to ask questions, raise concerns, or shift gears as priorities change—especially during harvest. You are dependable, self-motivated, and comfortable working both independently and as part of a small team.

You take pride in keeping things orderly, noticing what needs attention, and doing your part to help the day run smoothly. You are also willing and able to flex your schedule to meet the seasonal demands of a working cellar, including early mornings, late nights, and weekends during peak periods.

The Role
This full-time, temporary role is an integral part of our winemaking team, especially during the Harvest Season. The Cellar Worker supports all aspects of cellar and harvest operations, working closely with the Winemaker and Assistant Winemaker to carry out daily work safely, efficiently, and with consistent attention to cleanliness, organization, and wine quality.

What You’ll Do
- Execute daily work orders as directed by the Winemaker and Assistant Winemaker.
- Clean and sanitize tanks, barrels, equipment, and cellar and harvest areas.
- Perform wine rackings from tanks and barrels.
- Fill, top, stack, and make additions to barrels as directed.
- Set up and complete wine transfers.
- Operate pumps and other cellar machinery safely and efficiently.
- Assist in tracking and labeling wines in barrel.
- Support harvest operations including grape receiving, sorting, crushing, and pressing.
- Perform pump-overs, punch-downs, and other fermentation-related tasks.
- Safely operate a forklift to move barrels and equipment.
- Assist with bottling line setup, operation, and basic monitoring.
- Conduct visual and aroma quality-control checks and promptly communicate any concerns.
- Take on additional tasks and independent projects as assigned.

What You Bring
- 3–5 years of experience in a cellar role.
- Strong communication skills and comfort checking in regularly with the Winemaker and Assistant Winemaker, especially as priorities shift during harvest.
- High attention to detail, with the ability to follow work orders, SOPs, and safety protocols consistently.
- Solid organizational skills and the ability to keep multiple tasks, lots, and locations straight in a fast-paced cellar setting.
- Basic math and unit conversion skills used regularly for additions, volumes, and cellar calculations.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot on the floor—recognizing when something does not look, sound, or smell right and speaking up quickly.
- Ability to act independently while collaborating closely with a small team.
- Dependable, team-oriented, and willing to step in where needed.
- Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- Willing and able to adjust schedule to meet seasonal demands, including early mornings, late nights, and weekends during peak periods.

Physical Requirements + Work Environment
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds repeatedly.
- Ability to work on uneven and slippery surfaces.
- Ability to climb stairs and ladders and work at heights above 20 feet.
- Ability to bend, twist, squat, stoop, kneel, and walk long distances.
- Comfortable working long hours in a cold cellar environment.

Frog’s Leap is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees. We believe every member of our team is a key contributor to our collective success and we are looking to hire capable and committed individuals from diverse backgrounds, who will bring their unique personal perspectives and interests to their professional role.
